Trade on commission through Damtrade
Not every lot has to be sold outright. You can also trade through Damtrade on commission: we act as your broker or sourcing agent, find the buyer or the supplier, handle inspection, documents and loading, and earn an agreed commission when the deal completes.
Who a commission contract is for
The same export desk, inspection and documents as our outright trades. Only the way we are paid changes.
We sell on your behalf
You keep ownership of the goods until the buyer pays. We find the buyer abroad, negotiate the price, and arrange inspection, documents and loading in Antwerp.
- The end buyer's price, not a middleman's margin
- You approve every offer before it is accepted
- Commission per tonne, per vehicle or as a percentage
We source on your behalf
Looking for specific grades, models or quantities? As your sourcing agent we search our Benelux network, inspect the goods and consolidate them for shipment.
- The supplier's price on the original invoice
- Inspection and photos before you pay
- Commission agreed per order or per container
Introduce a deal, earn commission
Agents and introducers who bring us buyers abroad, or sellers in the Benelux, earn a commission on every deal they introduce.
- Fee protection agreement (IMFPA) before names are shared
- Non-circumvention and non-disclosure (NCNDA)
- Paid when the introduced deal is paid
Outright purchase or commission?
Both routes use the same inspection, documents and loading. The difference is who owns the goods and who carries the price risk.
| Outright purchase | Commission contract | |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns the goods | Damtrade, from collection | You, until the buyer pays |
| Price | Fixed price agreed upfront | The end buyer's price, minus our commission |
| When you are paid | On collection | When the buyer pays (advance, L/C or CAD) |
| Market risk | Carried by Damtrade | Carried by you, with our advice |
| Best for | Quick sales, small or mixed lots | Large, regular or high-value lots |
How a commission deal works
We sign a commission agreement covering the goods, your minimum price, the commission and the duration.
We present the lot to buyers in our export markets and collect offers.
You see every offer. Nothing is sold without your written approval.
Inspection, export documents and loading in Antwerp, with photos and weight tickets.
The buyer pays. We invoice our commission as set out in the agreement.
What a commission agreement covers
Every commission deal starts with a written agreement, so both sides know the price floor, the commission and the costs before any goods move.
- The goods: description, grade, quantity and location
- Your minimum price, or the price range you accept
- The commission: a percentage, or a fixed amount per tonne, vehicle or container
- Duration, and whether we act exclusively for you
- Who pays which costs: inspection, transport and documents
- The payment route and when the commission is due
- Confidentiality and non-circumvention
Commission contracts: common questions
How much commission do you charge?
It depends on the goods, the volume and the work involved. We agree it in writing before we start, as a percentage of the sale value or as a fixed amount per tonne, vehicle or container.
Do I pay anything upfront?
No. The commission is only due when the deal completes and the buyer has paid.
Who signs the sales contract?
Usually the seller and the buyer sign directly, with Damtrade named as broker. For some deals we sell in our own name on your behalf. The commission agreement states which applies.
What if no buyer meets my minimum price?
Then nothing is sold and no commission is due. If you prefer a quick sale, we can also make an outright offer for the goods.
Can agents abroad work with Damtrade?
Yes. We sign a fee protection agreement and a non-circumvention agreement before any names are shared, and pay the agreed commission when the introduced deal is paid.
